Giving it All to the Glory of God

Here at St. Mary Magdalene, God has blessed our teens with a lot of talent. Specifically, one teen with a lot of talent who gives it all to the glory of God is Lois Zozobrado. One of our GS24 core members, Clare, had an opportunity to interview her after a performance.

Q: When did your love for music start?

A: She has always been singing, even before she could talk. As a child, Barney was her life, and she would always hum or sing along. Her parents encouraged her to pursue the gift that God had given her. Lois at first was a little unsure about it due to stage fright, but worked around her fears and began performing. One of her tricks in the beginning to get around her fear was to wear sunglasses, because then it was harder for her to see everyone watching her. After while of theater and performing, Lois was hooked. She thought that if God gave her this gift, she wouldn’t want to waste it. Her parents play a huge role in support of her music path. They encouraged her to get over her fear and are at every performance.

Q: What is your favorite part of performing and singing?

A: Lois loves how she gets to interact with the audience members, like telling them how her originals came to be. Along with performing, Lois has been given a talent with song-writing. While she loves performing, she now spends more time in the studio, writing songs.

Q: How do you see God involved in your musical gifts and talents?

A: Before every performance, Lois gives thanks to God for giving her this gift. Also, she has a cross on her necklace that she wears so that it is like He is right there with her. Her music career relies heavily on God, since she unfortunately has had surgery to remove nodes on her vocal cords. This has led her to never take her gift for granted and to pray before every show that God helps her to do her best. She has full faith in His plan for her life, but hopes that she can keep using her gift.

Q: Do you hope to make a career out your music?

A: Lois does indeed desire this. Her life plan is to go to college and study marketing or sales while also studying music or songwriting. She hopes to go to Belmont so that she can have a balanced double major in both. She hopes to end up in Nashville where her career will take off on its own. When people question the validity of her choice to pursue music, she replies that God has a plan, and she leaves it at that, trusting Him to guide her. She says that we can always be unsure, but her parent’s and friends’ support helps her to have confidence. Every time she has trouble, she just gives it over to God and places the situation in His hands.

We are so lucky to have the gifts that God has given us. Let’s follow Lois’ example, and use them to glorify God. We are all uniquely made, and will have different gifts. Some will have many gifts, while others may only have one. Whatever gift or gifts you have, God has given you them to further the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth. Please, use these gifts. The world already has enough normal, let’s be extraordinary!
